Working with Kim during the birth of my daughter was an incredible experience! My husband and I are so grateful for her support; she took time to educate us on what to expect Before, During, and After the fact. She was always available to answer questions, consistently made contact to see how we were doing, taught us some wonderful labor relaxation techniques, and stayed for my full 34hrs of labor, through delivery, and an hour after the fact— I cannot say enough about her positive attitude and calming spirit! Before I met Kim I was very afraid of what to expect, and worried that in the hospital I’d be just another number. Thank You Kim, for making my birthing experience a fully supportive, positive, informed, worry and fear-free one! I would recommend your services a million times over, and look forward to working with you again in a few years – Jennifer G.
Kim is wonderful and helped me to be able successfully breastfeed my fourth baby after three failures with my other children! She aided my recovery and was easy to talk to about issues I had. She is very experienced and is a great doula! I recommend her to all of my friends. – Heather H.
Kim was truly an angel during my postpartum period, which was very difficult for me. I experienced sadness, which I didn’t have with my first, and she really helped to push me through. She is full of compassion and endless momma knowledge.
She gave me the courage and know-how to tackle mothering two kids with ease and with lots of fun. I loved watching her not only with my newborn baby girl, but also my toddler son. The way she navigated his “two year-old” personality was amazing and I walked away not only with the postpartum support I needed, but also excellent parenting tools in general!
I couldn’t recommend Kim more. She is not only a supreme professional — she has become a friend. – Erin C.
Chelsea is a super hero in every sense. She swooped into my life when I needed her the most. I had my son at 35 weeks and struggled from the beginning, being in the NICU for a bit and “having” to use a nipple shield. Hearing conflicting things from different people at the hospital about what I should be doing. For a solid month I tried everything but it wasn’t clicking for us. My birth plan didn’t pan out and all I wanted was to be able to breast feed my son. Chelsea was my last resort. I think I even told her if she couldn’t help us I was throwing in the towel. Within an hour she had my son not only feeding but without the nipple shield and we’ve been going strong ever since 5 months later. She gave me the confidence I was lacking, calmed my anxiety and had me looking at it from a different perspective than I was. It was amazing, she’s amazing. I tell everyone I know about her and am so grateful there are people like her out there helping out new moms. – Julie F.
I don’t know what we would have done without Kim, especially during labor and delivery! She not only helped me cope with pain, but recorded the timeline as my labor progressed – which is so special to me. Also, it was so great being able to ask her random questions that I always forgot to ask at my prenatal appointments. Hiring Kim as my doula was worth every penny and then some! – Cherie H.
We planned to have an unmedicated birth center birth and ended up at the hospital with a c-section. While we’re lucky that there were no emergency circumstances, this could have very easily been a frightening and confusing situation. Thankfully, we had Kim by our side and emerged unscathed and empowered. One of my favorite things about Kim’s doula support was that she came and talked to me about my birth a few days afterwards. I didn’t know then but that was hugely healing and essential for me and somehow Kim knew that without me even needing to ask her. This was just one part of Kim’s intuitive care. She is an amazing doula because she supports you in every way. She is there with guidance and support prenatally, during birth, and in the postpartum period. During those crazy hours of labor and birth, she is a rock: down to earth, calm, knowledgable, unshakable. On top of the support she gave to me, my husband would not have survived labor without her. She took care of him and showed him how to take care of me. She has helped me navigate my journey to motherhood and I believe she was integral in helping me stay healthy and sane in the newborn months. I have seen her do the same for so many mothers. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is an incredibly kind, loving, and caring soul: a blessing to the mamas of Austin. – Nola P.
Kim was my doula for my first baby, and I worked with her for prenatal support, birth, and postpartum. Words cannot express the love and gratitude in my heart for this woman. Kim was born to be a doula. I cannot imagine going through all of this process into motherhood without her caring support. First of all, Kim is a birth rock star! I would not have made it through my 58-hour labor without her support. She knew exactly what to do, and how to help me through the pain and the scary moments, through the laughter and the tears. She’s the funniest, happiest, sweetest, most caring person. She has a personality that just lights up a room, with an infectious laugh, and you can’t help but just love her. She has a real gift for working with people, she knows when to be fun and boisterous, but her best quality is that she has a very special gift of being incredibly empathetic and vulnerable. She knows how to sit with you in your emotions (all those raging hormones!) and listen, and hear you, and feel you. She makes you feel heard and understood, and so so incredibly held and supported. She is so grounded and nurturing, she has a quality to her that is so very needed during such a gentle and fragile time. Not many people have this gift the way that Kim does. She has ages of wisdom in her soul. Being a mother of 6 children, she knows her stuff too and is an incredible resource for all kinds of questions! She also did custom belly binding for me, as well as postpartum healing sessions to help me process the birth trauma. She has become such an important part of my life, and she truly loves what she does. This is not just a job for her, this truly is her passion! When the time comes to have another baby, Kim will be by my side once again! -Rachel K.
After a failed natural birth with my first daughter, which ended in an emergency C-section, I knew that baby number two would need a much different approach. There were several steps I took to help ensure a successful VBAC, but I believe the number 1 reason I found success was because we made the decision to hire Kim as our doula. From our very first “meet-and-greet” I knew that we had found a connection in someone that we would both feel comfortable with helping us usher in our little man. Kim met with us a few times before delivery and was always available to give me the extra encouragement I needed to wait an extra TEN days to go into labor naturally. She was even willing to take me walking to see if we could “get things moving.” Once labor began- in the middle of the night- Kim was at our door ready to assist. She helped me make it through a majority of the labor at home- per our wishes- to ensure a more comfortable labor with no interference. She was by my side throughout the entire process and even gave my husband a chance to get some rest before the real show began. If she had not been at my home, coaching me through each and every contraction I am certain we would have arrived at the hospital hours too early and that interventions would have begun. Kim was able to keep me home as long as possible and gave us the cue to load into the car and head to the hospital. Once we arrived she again was by my side 100% of the time giving me instructions on breathing techniques to ease the pain and encouraging me to push on. Throughout the entire process Kim was aware of my needs and my husband’s to ensure that this experience was exactly what we wanted. She coached my husband on how to care for me and happily stepped to the side to allow him to be my main support. Once Luke arrived, she had my camera in hand and snapped away to ensure we had photos of those first moments with our baby boy. She then managed to melt into the background and allowed my husband and I to enjoy those private moments with our son. Kim was nothing but supportive and enthusiastic and believed in me when I did not believe in myself. I am without a doubt that it was because of her presence and coaching that we were able to have a successful VBAC completely naturally. In addition to this amazing support, Kim also came by the house a few days after I was home from the hospital. She checked up on both of us and gave me some assistance in working on Luke’s latch, which was still not quite right. Kim’s expertise in the female body, labor and delivery and postpartum care including breastfeeding makes her an all around excellent choice for a doula. -Anna B.
