Bonding Through Touch

Infant massage has many benefits for families, such as bonding; it builds secure attachment, early verbal and non-verbal communication in addition to nurturing touch and activation of all the senses. It helps with the stimulation of most bodily systems, including immune, circulatory and nervous system. Infant massage can help with relief of gas and constipation; it improves sleep, can reduce teething pain as well as muscle tension and tone, plus increase flexibility and abilities to self-regulate.

BTT classes are cue-based and baby-driven. Parents are encouraged to respond to the individual needs of their babies. The classes are warm and relaxing, allowing individual baby’s needs to be considered and structured once-a-week format allows the time and space to learn from each others’ knowledge and experiences.

The mission of this course is to not only to teach infant massage, but also to empower parents and promote nurturing through parent-baby communication promote nurturing touch and communication.

This class is suggested for babies 6 weeks – 6 months.  All parents are welcome and more than one parent is great! Classes will be about 45 minutes to an hour long and each week we will add on strokes for another part of the body. If baby is sleeping or fussy, please still come – you can still learn to strokes and practice them later on your own. Everyone will be e-mailed a copy of strokes and a recording of the class! If you have to miss a class, strokes from previous weeks are always reviewed, so you can catch up!
