Kira Cole (she/her) Postpartum Doula

Kira is a white, queer, cisgender woman. She first became interested in becoming a doula while working for a chiropractor in Atlanta, GA. Being in a more holistic field, she learned all about the different and more traditional ways of birth and pregnancy. After reading and getting emotional over hundreds of birth stories online, she knew this was the path for her. Kira became a birth doula in 2016 (CAPPA).

Later in her doula career, Kira realized how dire the need was for more postpartum doulas as so many birthing people were not receiving the care that they so needed and desired postpartum. In earlier days, the community you lived in and your family would rally around a birthing person to provide support in a myriad of ways. Birth and postpartum were not meant to be endured alone!

Kira set out with the hope to bring these traditions back to the birthing world and became a postpartum doula in 2021 (CAPPA).

Kira’s focus these days is centered around mental health and destigmatizing postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. Kira feels it is extremely important to speak about these potential feelings with her clients in order to overcome and persevere during the most mentally trying time of one’s life. You are not alone!

Kira also has experience with children of all ages due to babysitting starting at age 11, as well as being an international travel au pair more recently. Kira worked as a client care coordinator at Atlanta Birth Center before moving to Austin, TX in 2022 which gave her unique insight into prenatal appointments and midwifery centered care.

In her spare time Kira loves to hike, spend time with her cat, volunteer for PSI (Postpartum Support International) and pour love into her family and friends. Kira was raised in Houston where most of her family resides but spent 10 years in Atlanta until recently. She loves to meet new people and is settling in as a new Austinite nicely!
